I don’t normally take a flu shot. Never had the flu, never worried about it. So, when my work offered to pay for everyone to get flu shots if we wanted I was like, “Nah, I’m good.”
Well, ‘lo and behold, Sunday afternoon I broke into a high fever with chills and muscle cramps. The fever fluctuated all night Sunday and all day yesterday (and I’ve had some nasty GI symptoms too), so I went in to see my doctor. FUCKING FLU. I’ve been advised to stay out of work until my fever breaks and stays gone for 24 hours. And there’s no telling when that will be. Could be in a day or two, could be a week.
I’m feeling some better today. Fever has stayed low and I can keep food down. Luckily, I don’t have any of the respiratory symptoms. I’m hoping to get back to work by Friday so I can have at least a couple of days to build up my paycheck before I go on my Dragon Age vacation next week. I do have enough paid sick days to cover a full week if needed, but if I use them all now I won’t have any until May… Ugh what a pain… I’m so not used to being sick.
